Personal Responce
As I was reading this poem I was fleeling this poem was a fantasy or dream of a person who had a great time over the summer. But more than that this poem reminds me of the summers me and my brother had, when we would get into trouble. Like the poem says “When the purpose of knees
Was to be skinned”, this in my words hints at the two people in this poem are young and liked to get in to trouble and yet still just having fun. Although the meaning of the title and the reference to watermelon escape me, but I get the fealing it represented something more than a watermelon. When reading i got the feeling that through the watermelon these two shared a strong bond between each other. All in all, through this poem i have been able to reflect my past summer experiences and have been able to look forward to my upcoming summer.
